You make good points about awareness. While there is not panacea, being aware of one’s surroundings would allow a woman a head start to get away is the situation merited. I also think some self-defense training, legal weapons and avoidance of bad or dimly lit areas would also help.

You might be interested in my post entitled, “Teenaged girl of 15 – escapes rapist” I posted today as it deals with a girl that was grabbed and dragged down an embankment and escaped.
